Why Does This Collar Have an O-Ring in the Center?
We get asked this question pretty often... and the answer is that the ring actually does serve a purpose - aside from looking wicked cool!
Central O-Ring collars are designed with "rollover safety" in mind, allowing for flex at the O ring point - the 2 strap pieces can move in an angular manner away from each other, thus allowing for collar escape should your pup become entangled in environmental hazards like heavy brush, fence wire, etc... Perfect for hiking and hunting dogs, herding dogs, sporting dogs - any dog, really - but it's a great tool for any activity that involves risk of "getting hung up". You can also attach a leash to the center ring, which keeps the collar centered at the top of the dog's neck. These collars come with a regular D ring near the buckle as well - so you have options (y'all know how we like our options around here).
In regard to fit, if you want to use this type of collar for "escape from entanglement purposes", we do recommend going with a slightly looser fit. There are 5 buckle holes for adjustment.
We offer 2 Biothane versions of the Central O-Ring, and one leather version - so whether you're looking for utility or fashion, we have you covered!
